The Open University is one of the largest and most respected public distance learning and research universities in the UK. Their courses are accessed by more than 250,000 students who use computers, tablets and phones to read and interact with the course materials. Teaching at the OU has been rated as excellent and as such it is important they keep their online materials accessible and up to date with modern methods of internet use.
Many of the activities on the online short courses still contained flash components which do not work on many phones, tablets or browsers. So TFA were tasked with converting many of the activities from flash to HTML5 so that they worked and appeared perfectly on all platforms and on epub 3.
The timescale for the turnaround of all activities was short but all activities were delivered, almost 700 hours of content conversion work, in under four weeks.
